3 Reasons why your business should be using Instagram

Instagram is growing as one of the largest social media platforms in the world. In fact, there are now over 700 million active users each month, with 400 million people using Instagram each day.
 
So, what is Instagram? Essentially, it is a social platform where people share photos or short videos, along with minimal text and a lot of hashtags.
 
The simplicity of Instagram is most likely why this social media platform is a favourite among millennials. Let’s face it they love selfies, and interesting pics, and don’t like reading a lot of text. 
 
Aside from a photo and short video sharing, Instagram offers many benefits to businesses. Especially if your are more of a business to consumer business.

1. Not as many businesses are active in promoting their brand on Instagram, with more preferring to opt for the more widely known and used Facebook. However, with less businesses using Instagram it’s a great way for you to use it for business and grow your brand. Especially if your brand is very visual and you wish to target people under the age of 40. (90% of Instagram users are younger than 35). 
2. People have a curious nature and love to know what’s behind the brand. Instagram allows you to be more personal with your photos and share what’s happening behind the scenes. The short 30-second video feature, and ‘my story’ feature can be great for this. 
3. Whatever you post on Instagram can be easily shared onto your Facebook page with the simple click of a button. (Make sure you have linked your Instagram page to your Facebook page first of course). Since Facebook now owns Instagram the linkages between the two social media platforms make it easier for users to share across both platforms. It's also easier for businesses to advertise on both sites.

 
Instagram is still growing as a platform, so it is a good time for businesses to get savvy with it and use it to their advantage. It’s an easy app to use, and offers great filters so you can play around with your images. It’s still got a long way to go to catch up to Facebook, which leads the social media pack with over 2 billion users, however it is growing and if used well it could prove beneficial to growing your brand.
